We Bought Our First Home!

We closed on Thursday April 22, 2010, and it could not have gone smoother. Not a single issue.

This is us at closing with our awesome realtor Jen- She rocks!

She even gave us this sweet gift basket at closing. It had several delish breads from Kneaders and a gift card to pottery barn!!! Wasn't that so nice?? Can’t wait to do some shopping!!
Early Friday we started moving! We had the best moving crew!! My mom, dad and sister came down to help during the day. We loaded the uhaul by ourselves the first time and just as we were shutting the door to it we got the call that everything funded and we could come pick up our keys!! WAHOO!

We went to the new house and unloaded the first truck full with the help of some of our new neighbors and then headed back to the Riverton House to load up again. He had 3 neighbors show up, one of our friends, and my uncle. And everyone was so amazing. We couldn’t have done it without them!! That same crew (minus 1) came to the new house and unloaded the truck that same night too. That put us way ahead of schedule because we were not planning to do that until Saturday morning. That same night we had furniture inside, our bedroom was almost entirely put together and things were looking good. Friday night was our first night in our new home and we slept like babies!! Saturday morning we got up and I ran to get some juice and doughnuts for the crew that was coming. We were expecting a few and when I drove up there were about 7 people at the house (most of who we had not met) ready to work. They worked on taking the boxes that were in the garage to the rooms that they belonged in. Lots of heavy boxes and lots of stairs. I can’t even begin to tell you how thankful we were for these guys!! Later in the afternoon Lowes showed up with our new appliances (washer, dryer, and fridge)!! So exciting!! Sunday Benji, Em, and their sweet pups came up and we had lunch at the house and then started putting the house together. More furniture was put in place and some things were put on the walls. I have to admit I had a mini anxiety attack when the first screw went in the wall but got over it quickly once it began to start looking like a home!! Monday morning we had several people come to the house to work on different things from our walk through. Our list from the walk through wasn’t complete by the time we moved in so we still have things needing to be taken care. Michael stayed home and took care of those things (the cabinet guy, shower guy, and cable guy were there). I ran to the city to get our utilities changed over, also ran to the bank to change my address on my account (needed to file the tax rebate). Then once everyone was out of the house I went and picked up Michael and we hit the DMV to get our new drivers license with our new address (also required to file the rebate). We ran another few errands and then headed home to work on unpacking more boxes. Tuesday it was back to work for both of us. We are slowly getting settled in and we love the house!! We’ve been doing laundry like crazy wanting everything nice and clean- the laundry, bedding etc… I’ve done a little shopping for things to have around the house- I’ve been focusing on the “big room” that includes the kitchen, dining, and living room area and it’s looking good.
Now the question- to have a house warming party or not??
