Court or Bust

Yesterday was the court day I had mentioned before. It was a total waste! We showed up at 8am and waited, and waited, and waited, and waited some more. Finally at 12:00 they told us that he had taken a plea bargain and we could go home. This guy- if he had been convicted of everything he could have faced 15+ years in prison. Since he took the plea bargain he is now facing 5 years of probation- no prison time. To me, that is a little ridiculous! You commit a fairly significant crime and then play the wheel'n & deal'n game with the attorney and get off super easy. To me that gives people a reason to commit a crime again- they get a slap on the wrist and don't learn a lesson! Grrrrr. It also doesn't seem right that 3 witnesses (me and two other people) had to go sit down there for hours and waste our day for something we didn't even do! Although, we were compensated for our time... $18.50 (HA!) That is less then minimum wage!!
